A Poem for Queen Elizabeth II

23 Sep

Her Majesty,
Shone once.

A chain of perfect stars around her neck
a single tear fuzzed by a monochrome sheen

The rooms
all slowly emptying
passengers put on their coats for a fast-departing train

There’s holes in the earth now,
to keep them warm for a thousand years
Now all she has to do, is wait.
